JACK POHLMEIER John "Jack" Pohlmeier was born on October 24, 1937 in Lawrence, Nebraska. He was the 6th of 9 children who grew up on their family farm. After high school, Jack enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at Moses Lake, WA. There he met and married Loretta McCanta and they had three daughters. After the loss of his wife in 1964, he returned to his home of Nebraska and began work in his future career of appliance repair. Jack met Betty Kimminau of Lawrence, NE, and they were married on April 30, 1966. Together, they moved to Grand Island, NE where they would reside for the next 27 years, and add to their family a son and three more daughters. Jack worked for Potter's Appliance for several years, and then he and Betty worked together to start and build their business, "Jack's Appliance Repair Service". In 1993, they moved to the warmer weather of Pahrump, NV. After an 8 year bout with leukemia and a short battle with pneumonia, he passed away on April 22, 2014. Jack loved his family, golf, horse racing, playing cards, gardening and sports. He enjoyed the company of many friends who remember him for his helpful, kind, friendly ways, and his devilish smile. Jack was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. Jack is survived by his wife Betty Pohlmeier of Pahrump, NV, his son Wayne (Lisa) Pohlmeier of Hastings, NE, 6 daughters: Bonnie Jones of Wilder, ID, Phyllis (Paul) Davie of Bellevue, WA, Cindy (Jim) Clinton of Henderson, NV, Deb (Scott) Peers of Grand Island, NE, Terri (Matt) Harmon of Huntingtown, MD, and Katie (Jimmy) Floyd of Pahrump, NV. Also survived by his brothers: Tom Pohlmeier of Johns Creek, GA and Mick (Betty) Pohlmeier of Slater IA; and sisters: Jeanne Petr of Hastings, NE, Geri (John) Hajny of Hastings, NE, Eileen (Bernard) Schneider of Cary, NC, and Kathy (John) Snyder of Pinehurst, NC. By sisters-in-law: Anita Kucera of Lawrence, NE, Mary (Ted) Schlick of Grand Island, NE and Lois Kimminau of Pahrump, NV. By brothers-in-law Mike (Linda) McCanta, Dan (Auburn) McCanta of Phoenix, AZ, Tim (Esther) McCanta of Bellevue, WA and Jay (Scott) McCanta of Seattle, WA. Jack is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lenora Pohlmeier of Lawrence, NE; sister, Connie Drudik; brother, Dave Pohlmeier; and granddaughter, Abby Pohlmeier. A Memorial Service will be held at Pahrump Family Mortuary, 5441 S. Vicki Ann Rd., Pahrump, NV 89048, on Fri., April 25, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. A Visitation and Rosary will be held at Curran Funeral Chapel, 3005 S Locust St, Grand Island, NE 68801, on Tues., April 29, 2014; Visitation from 4:00 - 7:00 pm, with the Rosary beginning at 7:00pm. A funeral mass will be conducted on Wed., April 30, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lawrence, NE at 10:00am. The funeral will be followed by the internment at Sacred Heart Cemetery, and then a funeral dinner in the church basement.
