GEORGE "SONNY" LAY Obituary
GEORGE "SONNY" LAY George "Sonny" Lay passed away March 12, 2018 in Las Vegas. He was born June 3, 1949 in Ohio. He had been a Pahrump resident since 1997. George served honorably in the U.S. Navy and served three tours in Vietnam with Hal-3 Sea Wolf Squadron. He received four Air Medals as well as the Navy Commendation Medal for Combat with Valor. George was a member of the First Step Club for 20 years and opened The Club every day for over a decade. He was dedicated to helping people with their sobriety, giving generously and often of his time. He, himself, was clean and sober for 26 years. George was treated as a member of the Tribe MC and enjoyed riding his Harley. George is survived by his children, Dawn (Bart) Gillard, Adam (Sena) Lay; sister, Jackie (James) Walsh; brothers, Tommie (Glenda) Lay and Scotty (Lydia) Lay; and two grandchildren. George also had a large, extended family. He will be buried with military honors at Miramar National Cemetery, San Diego, Calif. Entrusted to the care of Lee Funeral Home.
