JAMES FRANKLIN COOK Dec. 19, 1930 - March 2, 2017 James (Jim) passed away quietly in his home Thursday morning, March 2 after a brief stay in the hospital. He was born in Donie, TX, to John Wesley and Ethel (May) Cook. Jim joined the Air Force at a young age and landed in Nevada. He was a master electrician by trade and a proud union man. Jim spent many years working at the Nevada Test Site in various capacities. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie and his son, Mark W. Cook. He is survived by daughters: Marilyn Jones of Dallas, TX, Shawn Berry of Oceanside, CA and Camille Kim Cook of Fresno, CA; a sister, Mary Linda Dudley of Las Vegas; and a host of extended family and friends. He will be missed by all those who loved him and caregivers, who spent many days with him these last few years of life. Jim was always one to provide for his family, and finding work in the 50's and 60's took him all over the midwest and western states. He loved to "tinker," particularly with automobiles, and as long as he could, he was always working on someone's vehicle or one of his own. He traveled up and down the coast often, sometimes pulling pulling a boat with five kids in tow. In retirement, he took to a motorhome and owned one in all sizes throughout the rest of his driving days. Jim will be remembered for many hours spent with his Masonic and Shrine duties, as well as their service and social functions. He was faithful in all the roles he undertook while serving these organizations. Services will be held Friday, March 10 at 10:40 am at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, NV.
