NEAL J. WALKER Neal J. Walker passed away Aug. 3, 2017 in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 5, 1935 in Gate, Okla. to Mella Mae (Simons) Walker and Fred Norman Walker. He was raised by his grandparents, Charlie Henry Simons and Mella Susan (Cloyd) Simons. He lived with his grandparents in Nowata and Gate, Okla. As a teenager and during the first few years of his married life, he worked the combine crews with his grandparents between Texas and Montana. He married the love of his life, Judith Anne (Long) Walker on Jan. 12. 1957. They were married for 52 years. After several years of early married life traveling, he discovered the second love of his life, the oilfield. He worked the oilfields in Okla., Utah, and Wyo., finishing his career as drilling superintendent at Yucca Mt. before becoming a consultant for the oilfield. Neal was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; his sister, Ann Foster; niece Nancy Terry; and his beloved wife, Judy. He is survived by his children: daughter, Jeree Joan Nielson (Dan), Gresham, Ore.; and son, Jerry Neal Walker (Katherene), Las Vegas; five grandchildren: Aimee Leigh Tinkle (Ron); Sandra Kaye Moreira (Alan); Joshua Daniel Nielson (Tiffany); Matthew Benjamen Walker (Trish); Derek Dennis Brookshire; and nine great grandchildren; one brother, Charles Walker (Carla), Peck, Kan.; three nieces and three nephews. Neal was a great storyteller and seemed to have a story for every situation. He worked long, hard hours to provide for his family and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Neal will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. A Celebration of Life was held in his honor Sat., Sept. 9, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church, Pahrump, Nev.
