ROBERT WINTERS BROWN Native Nevadan and long-time Pahrump resident, Robert Winters Brown, passed away Dec. 6, 2017 at the age of 81, at Kindred-Sahara Hospital in Las Vegas from complications after surgery. Robert was a U.S. Army veteran and a supervisor for several mining operations in Nevada and Arizona. A Civil War historian, Robert attended local re-enactments in Pahrump and at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park in Las Vegas. He served for decades as State Historian in the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He was a member of the Las Vegas Civil War Roundtable and contributed to Civil War battlefield preservation. Robert was a big supporter of the Pahrump Valley Museum, visiting regularly and attended all their lectures. He donated all his reenactment gear to the museum's Civil War section of their new Military Exhibit. A memorial service for Robert is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 at the museum from 11 am to 1 pm. Interment will be held at Boulder Veterans' Cemetery at a date to be determined later in January.
