BARRY RAY JACOBY, SR. Barry Ray Jacoby, Sr., age 68, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 8, 2019, at his home in Beatty, Nev. Barry was born Monday, November 13, 1950, in Durham, N.C., to Beatrice Louise Andrews and Richard Kenneth Jacoby. He was a graduate of Walter Williams High School in Burlington, North Carolina followed by a degree in Business Administration. Barry served in the Army from 1967 to 1970. He was an Airborne Ranger, Special Ops, part of the 5th Special Forces (Green Beret), attached to MacV. He served in Vietnam and was a Squad Leader for a Long Range Recon Patrol. He worked as a mechanical contractor and machinist in North Carolina demonstrating incredible ingenuity. He moved to Beatty, Nevada in August of 2003. Barry served as board member and officer of the Beatty Water and Sanitation District from June of 2016 to present. He also served and was one of the founding members on the Beatty Neighborhood Watch Patrol since February 2016. Barry truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; riding his motorcycle and trike, chatting with friends, playing music and guitar, working on projects, serving his community and visiting his family in North Carolina, Louisiana and California. Barry had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way and made many great friends. Barry was one of the kindest people you could ever meet; he opened his heart and home to his friends and family, always gave selflessly and will be sorely missed. Barry was preceded in death by his sister Susan LeDonna Jacoby, and half-brother Hubert C. Gray, II. He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Karen N. Gray-Jacoby; his brother, Richard Jacoby and half-sister Gennie Gates; his children Barry Jacoby, Jr., Michael Jacoby, Ross Jacoby and step-children Anthony Thomason, Teresa Manley and Hubert C. Gray, III; his grandchildren, Taylor Jacoby, Braydon Jacoby, Michael Jacoby, Jr., Matthew Jacoby, and step-grandchildren Josef Manley, and Ryker Thomason; and his great granddaughter Ryleigh Grace Hutchins, and step-great grandchildren Mariah Ruiz, Carlee Herron, and CJ Herron, Jr. A Celebration of Life was held on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at the Beatty Community Center, 100 A Avenue South, Beatty, Nevada at 12:00 noon, followed by a graveside service at the Desert Hills Cemetery in Beatty.
