I had never seen Charlie Daniels in concert until a few years ago in Tupelo, MS. He was opening for Alabama. I took my 30 year old niece who had never heard of Charlie Daniels. By the time he was finished, she loved him. I did, too. I liked that he spoke what was on his mind straight up and that he gave little monologues of his opinions between songs. He really respected the military which hit home with me as I am retired Navy. I looked around and there were all ages that were cheering for him and it was very well deserved. We both enjoyed him immensely. My niece was the one who told me he had passed away. He will be missed.

July 1998 My wife and I saw Charlie at a County Fair in upstate NY. My wife Francesca was fighting a battle with Cancer. After Charlies performance, Franny wanted to go out back to see if she could get Charlies autograph. Charlie spotted her in the crowd. He motioned for her to come under the barrier, he removed her baseball cap, kissed her bald head and smothered her 4'11" 90 lb frame with his huge body. He held her for quite awhile , then prayed with her. I along with the rest of the crowd silently watched as this gentle giant took the time to comfort this very sick lady. Francesca didn't have a piece of paper for an autograph, she asked Charlie to sign her denim jacket. Charlie gladly personalized a short message on her jacket. Fran wore that jacket every chance she had including her Chemo treatments, where she joyfully shared her experience meeting Charlie Daniels with the other cancer patients. Unfortunately Franny died 5 months later. The kindness and grace that Charlie offered to Franny brought so much joy to my wife in the last months of her life was immeasurable. As a believer, I know that this wonderful man is at home with his creator. The world is a darker place with the loss of Charlie . My thoughts and prayers are with his wife and loved ones at this sad time.

We met Charlie at the Air Force Academy back in the 80s when he played a concert here and when he sang the National Anthem before the Falcons football game. He was the nicest down to earth man and so talented and clearly enjoyed, along with this wonderful band, entertaining the crowd. We had occasion to visit with Hazel several times and it was clear to see that she and Charlie had a wonderful relationship. We hoped to see them in Colorado in late summer until the pandemic closed everything down. Our prayer for Hazel and Charlie Jr that they stay healthily and heal from the loss

I would like to convey my sadness and offer my condolences to all of Charlie's family and friends. I have been a lifelong fan seeing Charlie and the CDB many times since my first concert in the mid 70's. I was able to pass down Charlie's music down to my son who also was able to enjoy his live music at several shows. Charlie was a great musician, a great Patriot to The United States and all around good man. I hope the Angels in Heaven enjoy listening to The Orange Blossom Special as much I do! Thanks again for all of the great music and God bless you.

I was introduced to Charlie's music in my teens by my dad, CDB was a common topic for me and my dad who I lost 6 years ago. I still remember my first concert at Tennessee valley fair, with my now husband. I also remember being in awe of him and his great presence on stage and backstage as he was getting on his bus, looking up at him at 17 he was so tall and powerful. How he said to husband " what can I do for you son?" ..I was soooo excited to get home and tell my dad I met Charlie!! He gave me great memories with my dad ,and for that I will always be grateful! Thank you so much to his family for giving us all a chance to mourn his passing , his life and music will always touch so many even after this loss. My thoughts are with his family and friends, I'm postive hes watching over you all and will never be far away.

This man restored my Faith.
Back in the early 90's I was turned off by church and traditional church music. Then, while channel surfing, I caught Charlie on the 700 Club playing a song from "The Door", just Charlie and a guitar. That song, "Jesus Died For You", penetrated deep in my soul in both lyrics and music. I had finally found Christian music that moved me to a deeper walk with Jesus. Over the next few years I must have given away 50 to 100 CD's of Steel Witness and The Door. We even talked Ginger into making us a batch of some Steel Witness t-shirts. I still wear those shirts and listen to those albums today and at 60 years old, I regularly tear up out of grateful thanks for God moving Charlie to write and record those albums. Don't get me wrong, I grew up on CDB, but I really loved the personal bold witness from those 2 Christian albums and the re-write of Long Haired Country Boy.
Now with Charlie's passing I know that the 2nd coming of Jesus is closer than ever... now all of us God-fearing rednecks will recognize the fiddle playing with the angelic trumpets when the sky splits. I thank God for the life of Charlie Daniels, though we never met he was one of my cherished friends. I will meet him one day but not yet, not yet.

I saw Charlie at the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium a few years ago. I was amazed at the turnout of people. The most for any show I ever attended. I know Charlie went to Jenkins Junior High here in Spartanburg, SC for a short time during his school career. What an amazing man! I sure did enjoy his music and his love for America! Rest in peace, Charlie!

I still can't comprehend that Charlie Daniels has gone to play the fiddle on the other side. He gave me reason to put on my cowboy boots once a year to see him in concert. To his wife and son-Thank you for sharing Charlie with the rest of the world, not that I think you could have stopped him in anyway from being who he was, a great performer, a voice, a proud supporter of our Military and men and women in blue and so many other things. Prayers to you, the band and all.

Started listening to Charlie's Music in 1975. My First Concert was a CDB show on 11/11/1977 in Passaic, NJ... Would see him Live Dozens of times over the next 43 years, and even get to sit and talk with him (Twice). My last Concert was also a CDB Show, on 07/08/2020 in Gilford, NH. If not for this virus, I would have seen and met with him again on 06/14/2020 in Gilford, NH. Sadly, that did not happen. Charlie was an awesome Musician, and an even better Human Being. He was the LAST of the original Southern Rock bands, and now joins the Allman Brothers (Duane and Gregg), Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker (Toy and Tommy Caldwell), and the Outlaws (Billy and Hughie)... You will be missed, Charlie! Thank you for years of Great Music, and Good Ol' Times! As RVZ said: "You got to love ol' Charlie Daniels".....

What a tremendous loss to the music world and Nashville. My thoughts and prayers are with his family as they deal with the grief of the death of Mr Daniels. As the preacher that preached my mother's funeral in October said: "We did not lose her, we know where she is, she is walking the streets of Gold" Mr Daniels is not lost, with his faith in God, we all know where he is, he is playing the "Golden Fiddle" on the Streets of Gold. RIP Mr Daniels and thank you for all of your great music and wisdom. I carry special memories, as the first concert I ever attended was the CDB with Alabama in Little Rock Arkansas at Barton Coliseum in the mid 80's and have been a fan ever since.

Charlie ,was known for his fiddle ,and country music. This man could rock. A great guitar player. Very underappreciated as far as his talent. Fire on the Mountian ,and million mile reflections were his best selling albums, but his other albums in the 70's are epic. nightrider, saddle tramp, midnight wind, high lonesome, in my opinion, show his talent as a ROCK artist, not country rock, his rock and roll. should have been inducted in the rock and roll HOF a long time ago. Charlie could it all. never met him, saw a few of his concerts, always a great show. A GREAT CHRISTIAN, PATRIOT, HUMANITARIAN, MUSICIAN, A GREAT MAN, who left a great legacy. you will truly, be missed by many. but many of us will see you again. Dean Risch

My childhood and teenage memories are packed with Charlie. Most vivid, listening to the Simple Man cassette as I headed out through the woods- being a like minded child of God, feeling that pride for our country, our freedom and core values. He gave so much here on earth and is now where he was destined to be. I look forward to meeting him in heaven! Praying for the family and close friends during this difficult time.

I went to MANY of Charlie's concerts over the years with my now deceased brothers, Jack and Jerry, who introduced me to Charlie's wonderful music and other southern rock bands such as The Marshall Tucker Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd. I was intrigued by Charlies music, his love for his fans, and especially captivated by his fiddle playing. With that said, at age 50, I bought my first fiddle and started taking lessons. Seven years later, Im still loving it and trying to master The Devil Went Down to Georgia on my fiddle which isnt easy!! Every time I play it Charlie, I will think of you. You are my hero, my inspiration, and the reason I keep on playing. You will be greatly missed by all who knew you and your music. May you enjoy eternal peace and happiness with our Heavenly Father and keep on fiddlin buddy! You will always be the greatest fiddle player ever knownRIP

To Charlie's family, I am so sorry for your loss and I hope your path through grief brings you strength.
I was fortunate enough to meet Charlie over 20 years ago through a great friend and was able to see him every year in concert, backstage, and Meet and Greets. He was a kind-hearted man and was always genuine, and spoke to me like I was just another man, always on my level and never pretentious. 16 years ago before a show, I was on his bus and was able to have about 10 minutes sitting across a table just him and I chatting about things. In that short time, I discovered how genuine he was and thought his family and friends who spend a lot of time with him are so blessed. I told him I teach Social Studies at E.O. Smith High School in Storrs,Connecticut and I asked him if he could inspire my students in some way. Long story short, he agreed to have my students ask him questions related to his Soapbox Forum. This started a long standing commitment by him that had an indelible impact on myself and hundreds of students over the past 16 years. This was a delight for me to have Charlie taking part in educating my students. He inspired me to become active in helping veterans in Connecticut which in turn I initiated a program at school for my students to help veterans well. I am forever grateful for his inspiration. Every year when I would see him he would say "Hey, Tim the Teacher how are your students this year?" He genuinely cared. I am blessed to have gotten to know Charlie over the years and deeply saddened over his passing.
We always signed off on our emails by mutually writing "God Bless". You are missed Charlie. God Bless, Tim

To the Family of Charlie Daniels,

Country music genre is the heart of America. Charlie Daniels was an icon and a music legend that grace the stage with such music legends as, the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and many, many more.....we can certainly say that his talent has not gone unnoticed. Being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and being a member of the Grand Ole Opry is not as easy task and we can certainly say that Mr. Daniels has earned his spot in Country music history.

May you always keep treasured memories of Mr. Daniel in your heart. And may you also find comfort in knowing that those who have passed on in death, God keeps in his memory because they are all precious in his eyes.

Respectfully,
EDO, Illinois
