JAMES EDWARD WERNER Our beloved Jim passed peacefully on September 25, 2019 at Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas, Nev. of respiratory failure. He was born May 23, 1941. A resident of Pahrump for 11 years, Jim was born in Chicago, Ill. to Carmella and William Werner. He is survived by Denise, his wife of 32 years; daughters, Michelle Travis of Texas, Sherrie Ferns of California, Melanie Werner of Texas, and Deanna Redlus of California; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and his sister, Sandi. His parents and brother, Bill, died before him. Jim lived in Chicago until age ten, when the family moved from Blue Island to La Crescenta, Calif. His family were members of St. James Catholic Church. Jim attended local elementary schools and Glendale High School. He enlisted in the Navy at age 17 and served one tour in San Diego, Calif. After his military service, Jim completed an Associate's Degree at Glendale College and began a career in computers. He met his wife, Denise, at a company where they both worked as computer programmers. Later, they were hired by Southern California Edison, from which both retired in the 1990's. In retirement, Jim and Denise crisscrossed the country in their beloved RV, Betsy Wernerbago, visiting family and friends from 1997 until 2014. When they were at home, either in Nevada or Oregon, Denise would sing in local and church choirs while Jim recorded the music and produced CD's and videos for the choir members. He enjoyed music, boats and Corvettes. Jim is mourned by members of St. Patrick of the Forest Catholic Church in Cave Junction, Oregon, Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, Pahrump, the Community Choir in Pahrump, the Knights of Columbus Council 10780 in Pahrump, and many friends and family.
