JEAN W. HILLEN The Lord called his daughter, Jean W. Hillen home on Jan. 14, 2018. She was born Oct. 7, 1920 to John and Welcome May Taylor on a farm outside Abilene Kan., where she grew up. She attended the University of Kansas. After the death of her father, she and her mother moved to southern California, where she met and married C. Lyle Epler. They raised four children, Bette Collins/Westman, Pahrump, with whom she lived for most of the past 27 years; John (Rosemary) Epler, Green Valley, Ariz.; Tony (Pam) Epler, Lake Ridge, Va.; and Patti Epler, Honolulu, Hawaii. After Lyle's death, she managed the fabric department at Montgomery Ward, where she met and married John Hillen, who had one son, Jim (Joan) Hillen, The Lakes, Fla. They worked together at the information center at the North Rim Grand Canyon and traveled the United States until John became ill. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 23 great-great grandchildren. Jean was loved by everyone who knew her and will be missed by all. She was a member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, where a Celebration of Life will be held on Sun., Jan. 21, 2018 at 9:30 a.m.
