JOSEPH (JOE) EARL COLT Joseph (Joe) Earl Colt, (1939-2016), passed away Sept. 7 suddenly of a massive brain hemorrhage. Joe was placed in an orphanage at birth in Amarillo, Tex., where he lived until his early teens, at which time he was sent to work on a local cattle ranch. There, while living in an abandoned school bus on the property, he became a top cowhand. He left the ranch in his early twenties to join the US Navy, and after his hitch, decided to ride the Pacific Coast Trail from San Diego to Canada on horseback. It was on this trip he met and married Sharon Ann Zugelder, and together they walked through life for almost 50 years to the day. Joe was a milti-faceted man who found work as a well driller, truck driver, insurance adjuster, repair shop supervisor, ranch manager and even spent two terms as an elected County Supervisor. He flew airplanes and drove 18 wheelers and bulldozers. On retirement, his adventurous life continued as he and Sharon hit the road in an RV where they traveled the country as "workampers", finally coming to rest in Pahrump. Here he bought a house, was baptized into the family of God, and enjoyed going to auctions and yard sales. Joe leaves behind his wife, 2 sons, and a miriad of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The world will have less laughter and fewer smiles because of his passing.
