LARRY W. LAWSON Larry W. Lawson, 76, lost his battle with cancer Oct. 13 at UMC in Las Vegas. Larry lived in Pahrump for the past 16 years. He was born in Missouri in 1941 and moved west to spend his teen years in Long Beach, Calif. He spent three years overseas with the US Army, played college football and semi-pro football for several years. Larry's greatest passions were his family and friends, his country, football, fishing, dogs and babies. With a wicked sense of humor and his genuine kindness, he made all who knew him love and adore him. Mr. Lawson spent most of his life in the casino industry as a dealer, pit boss and casino manager from Laughlin to Reno, and worked also for many years in Cripple Creek, Colo. Larry is survived by and will be greatly missed by his daughters, Tracy Brown of Pahrump and Cody Downing of Las Vegas; six grandchilden, Brandon, Coral, Chloe, Codie Rose, Tiffany, Aspen; and three great-grandchldren, Addieson, Christian, and McKenna; his niece Valerie Romero of Calif.; and his nephew Steven Biggs of Pahrump. He has also left behind his domestic partner, Laura Lilly and his "step-step" daughter, Cathy Lilly, both of Crystal Nev. His memory will always be cherished in their hearts. His two precious dogs, "Kona" and "Sophie" will be forever waiting for him to return home. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, John E. Lawson, Pauline Bays Lawson; his sister,Betty Lou Biggs; and beloved wife of 40 years, Nancy Turock Lawson. There will be a Celebration of Life in honor for Larry on Sat., Nov. 11th between 2 and 4 pm at the Pahrump Community Church multi-purpose building at E. Wilson and West Street in Pahrump.
