LINNA BARNUM 20 -year resident of Pahrump, Linna Barnum passed away peacefully in her bed of heart failure Wed., Sept. 27 at 2:22 am. She chose to donate her body to science. She was born on Jan. 14, 1944 in Durango, Colo., graduating from Durango High School in 1962. Linna was called to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1966-68. She graduated from Brigham Young Universty with a degree in Music Education in 1969. Linna worked at the Pahrump Community Library for eight years. She had a huge love for music. She played the piano and french horn, but most of all, she loved to sing and participated in choirs wherever she lived. Linna and her husband founded Pahrump's High Desert Chorale where she sang for 14 years. In her church, she served in the children's organization, women's organization and chorister. At her time of death, she was serving as vice-president of Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She is survived by her husband, Andrew Barnum of Pahrump; son, Russell (Shauna) Barnum of Las Vegas; and daughter, Donna Michelle (Ryan) Layne of Anchorage, Ala.; and seven grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in her honor Oct. 7, 2017 at 2 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel on east Manse Road, Pahrump, Nev.
