MALCOLM AND JANIS SCOTT Malcolm and Janis Scott, of Pahrump, have both recently passed away. Malcolm Edgar Scott was born in 1932 in Edmonton, Canada. Mal worked as a lumberjack and on oil rigs in his younger days but really enjoyed electronics. He worked for General Electric prior to coming to the U.S. and was later hired by IBM as a customer engineer. He was later promoted to large systems as a specialist. Mal was preceded in death by his parents, Harry & Alice Scott, and siblings Shirley, Joan, and Kenneth. He is survived by siblings Mary, Jean, Robert, and Jack. Janis Kay (Bruck) Scott was born in 1947 in Southern California. After high school, Janis worked as a secretary for a corporation, where she met Malcolm. They were married in 1971, Mal's second marriage. Janis was a homemaker for many years and served as a leader and volunteer in many school, church, and community organizations. Janis later returned to work, and was employed as a secretary. Janis loved bowling and enjoyed playing on many leagues throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her father, Anthony Bruck, and is survived by her mother, Clara Bruck, and her sister, Barbara. Both Mal and Janis had cancer and they each passed peacefully in hospice care. Mal passed away on Dec. 2, 2017 and Janis passed on Jan. 7, 2018. They are both survived by their two daughters, Launa and Tammy, and their grandson, Aric. An informal memorial service will be held for Malcolm and Janis at New Hope Fellowship, 781 West Street, in Pahrump, on Tuesday, Feb. 20th, at 11 am.
