RON "ROCKET" BLACK Our Dear friend and mining partner passed away December 17, 2019 at his home, in Las Vegas, surrounded by family. "Rocket" will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him. He stayed at Lakeside RV Park for many years, making friends with so many people from all over the world. Ron loved fishing, prospecting and talking and sharing a few brewski's with anyone who stopped by his motorhome. He became a member of the Nye Gold Seekers in 2009 and quickly became active in helping the club members find new adventures. So, "Rocket" volunteered to be our outing director. He lead our group on short day trips through Death Valley, Tonopah Mining Park, museums, McCaw Mine School and somehwere in between, we went to a haunted gold mine at Nelson! Ron was a proud Navy Veteran who served aboard the aircraft carrier, U.S.S. Kitty Hawk while stationed in Japan. He is survived by five children, a brother, and their families. His mining boots have had many wonderful adventures and only his closest and dearest friends who knew him best will say: "We're still wondering who gave you that silly name?" So long "Rocket" ol' buddy, until we meet again... "Git 'er done"!
