RUTH ELLEN WILLIAMS Ruth Ellen Williams, 79, of Pahrump, Daughter of Joseph Glenn and Mary Ellen (Martin) Shockley, was born August 5, 1940 in Niangua, Mo. She was called from Las Vegas. to her heavenly home on September 27, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Milas (Mike) Williams and the father of her children, LeRoy Works; her parents, Joseph and Mary Shockley; her brothers, Joseph Harvey and William Frederick Shockley; her sister, Martha Belle Shockley; and her grandsons, Christopher Bottazzo and Zachery Singenstreu. Ruth is survived by her son, Keeth (Renita) Works, of Nixa, Mo.; her four daughters, Vicki Johnson of Las Vegas, Cindy (Ken) Whittenburg of Marshfield, Mo., Laveda (Randy) Byers of Monmouth, Ore., and Leslie (Mike) Singenstreu of Victoria, Texas; her sisters, Clara Totten, Mary Cunningham, Thelma Dudley, Phyllis Mobley, Doris Scott, Edna Amos and Theresa Harrington. Ruth was also blessed with 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Ruth grew up on the family farms in Missouri and Michigan. She was an avid seamstress who gifted her sewn and crocheted treasures to family, friends, and charities over the years. Ruth retired from the Clark County School District after over 25 years of service as a School Health Aid. She presided over the Shadow Mountain Quilters of Pahrump from 2012-2014 and then as interim Treasurer in 2015-2016, with whom she was a longtime member. She also assisted in providing many quilts to our area Veterans through her long association with the Nye County Valor Quilters. So many of the members of her charities in which she served remember her as such a kind, loving and generous woman with beautiful green eyes. When Ruth wasn't in her sewing room, she loved baking gifts to send to her loved ones and sharing with others; tending her flowers, growing many beautiful roses over the years and feeding the birds, from making meatballs for the roadrunners, preparing seeds, jellies, and oranges for her orioles, to various hummingbird feeders hanging from her patios. Her beautiful smile and giving heart will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Ruth and Milas attended Upland Bible Church in Las Vegas during their marriage, and Ruth attended Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church for the many years she resided in Pahrump where a Mass service will be held for family and friends on Saturday October 5, 2019 at 10:00 a.m., 781 E. Gamebird Rd., Pahrump. Ruth loved flowers, so please feel free to send them to her service. Or, if you would like, you could donate to two of her favorite passions; she was a long time supporter of St. Jude's and devoted to the Nye County Valor Quilts P.O. Box 3632, Pahrump, NV 89041.
