1960 - 2021
GERALD "BEAR" SMITH On Monday, January 18, 2021, Gerald "Bear" Smith, a loving husband and father to Maryanna and Savannah Smith, passed away at the age of 60. Bear was born July 12, 1960 in Torrance, Calif. to Elzie and Charlotte with three brothers, John, Jay, and Jason and three sisters, Robin, Jody, and Kammie. On July 25, 1993, he married Maryanna Therese Whitney. They raised their only daughter, Savannah Smith. Bear started working at Saddle West in 1993 as a security officer then moved on to the Pahrump Court house in 2005 as a Bailiff. Bear had a passion for spending time with his family and friends. His hobbies were Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, working out, going shooting and riding his motorcycle. Bear was known for his goofy contagious personality and always willing to help others in and out of the court house. Bear was always helping me and my husband John Sipple at work in count room at Saddle West. I have lots of memories of those two joking around on the main floor. Bear & John are together again upstairs and I'm sure John has found him and are catching up. Deepest sympathies to his family.
